Day 357: the last taste of summer ‘22

The last taste of Summer ‘22: Day 357 is Nigella’s Apple and Blackberry Kuchen; using the sweetest, sun-soaked blackberries picked during a family holiday forage in Somerset last year. I know goods tend to degrade in quality and taste over time in the freezer, but these were sealed well and still made for a delicious crumble a few weeks ago, a luscious compote to have with yogurt and, of course, this delightful Kuchen you see here. Delicious as is, sliced into slabs and eaten with hands, but I also like a slab heated for 30 seconds in the microwave and covered in cold vanilla seed-flecked custard (particularly good if you haven’t managed to get through the whole lot before it begins to stale slightly).
