Day 346: golden carapace

Saturday was a day of kids running riot due to boredom and bugs, snoozing cooking alarms, distractions and forgetfulness - resulting in incorrect calculations for recipe quantity adjustments and quite a lot of overbaking (I burned, or near-burned, practically everything I cooked).

In spite of all that, this gold-carapaced vat of spiced meat and beans was a delicious way to end a challenging day: Day 346 is Nigella's Cornbread Topped Chilli Con Carne; though due to miscalculations - or forgetting to reduce the cornbread quantities - this vat was more cornbread than chilli (not that that's necessarily a bad thing!).

There’s a lot of the cornbread topping left over and I’m thinking of a cornbread dressing of some kind to go with tonight’s leftover roast chicken.
