Day 347: paddington would be proud

A sun-soaked vision in amber. Day 347 is Nigella’s (friend’s) Marmalade, from How To Eat. I reckon Paddington Bear would have big respect for the volume of marmalade the cherubs have consumed since Saturday. I honestly thought they’d not be keen on a) the volume of rind and b) the thickness of it, but they didn’t batter an eyelid, and even ate it by the spoon. Hubby, on the other hand, said it was a little too thick for him, especially given how much more fragrant and potent the rind of fresh Seville oranges is compared to what you find in the readymade, shop-bought stuff. As I said to him, though: I have neither the patience, time or desire to stand there and finely shred a pile of rind. So, as much as I love him, he’ll just have to spoon around the rind or put less on his toast!

Nigella's Marmalade

Here, the glossy, liquid sunshine is spread thickly on a slice of N’s No Knead Bread, from Cook Eat Repeat; and ,of course, the Old-Fashioned Sandwich Loaf from the same joy provides an unmatched vessel for marmalade (and lots of butter) on toast.

As mentioned above, the recipe for this can be found in How To Eat. And the recipe for the No-Knead Bread (don’t forget to keep you starchy pasta/potato cooking water!) can be found in Cook Eat Repeat, where you will also find the Old Fashioned Sandwich Loaf (also below).
