Day 273: classic, comforting, divinely good
A good cream sauce should always carry with it flashbacks to warm events from your childhood - for me, it’s dinner at Nan’s and eating out in restaurants for special occasions with family - and an unbeatable (or, at least, hard to beat) comfort. This one does just that! Day 273 is Nigella’s Tarragon Chicken; buttered royals with parsley & dill and green beans & asparagus on the side (also with butter). It’s actually by total coincidence that I picked up that vegetable combo (as is also suggested by Nigella), unless the idea was planted in my mind during a late-night read of Kitchen and then nestled its way into the deepest part of my mental archive (where everything seems to go at the moment and remain inaccessible on demand) for a later date.
I could witter on - repetitively! - for hours and hours about my love for tarragon, but I will spare you the pain!
Extra sauce in nearby jug - which I shamelessly drank and licked clean (with the aid of fingers) when I cleared the table and took empty plates into kitchen.
